I Am Impressed
Update: I removed two stars. The Apps obsessive intrusions to constantly ask you share what you just did with Facebook or Twitter indicates that it is ENGULFED in the narcissistic culture that believes one needs to alert your Pen Pals on Facebook or Twitter for every bowel movement, every toe clipping, and every time one picks ones nose or pops a pimple. The constant appearance of these functions suggests this app may be designed for the pathologically needy who only have Facebook pen pals or Twitter pen pals but no actual friends. No actual friends could possibly want their day interrupted with such a thing. Without real friend, many seem unable to differentiate between human interactions one shares with a friend, and bodily functions only a 5 year old would find amusing. It would not be an issue if you could set the application to connect to your pen pals on Facebook or Twitter, but the feature appears at every turn, as if moving your body for 7 minutes is the equivalent of curing Ebola.
Of course J&J gets paid every time those icons appear, and so maybe that is the price we have to pay. While you may ignore them, J&J gets paid as they pass your IP address to Facebook, whether you press the icon or share your sit up with anyone; whether you have an account with Facebook or not. They tell Facebook you were using the app.
As for the app itself, I am impressed by the quality and completeness of this application. The thorough review of all of the exercises should not be skipped because the circuits are short and you are expected to know the basics of the next exercise when it is announced; though additional detail is also provided during the circuit. And the individual explanations are done with very short, effective video. Each exercise is done over a short period of time, so I was surprised that it got my heart rate up so quickly. You can also customize how it behaves by indicating your like or dislike for a particular exercise. If you have a physical limitation that creates pain, for instance, by telling the App you can avoid that exercise in future routines. During the circuit the video coach does it with you, making note of important nuances. Its just a shame it is so embedded with the culture of narcissistic sharing.
